Richard Purvis is the pastor of Cridersville United Methodist Church. Richard graduated from Ohio University with a triple major in graphic arts, illustration and painting. After college, he worked at the Lancaster Sales Department Store in Lancaster, Ohio. Looking to use his artistic talent, he left there and joined a company called Hammond Electronics, a home and car audio company in Columbus. After about ten years there, Hammond's went bankrupt. Richard started working at a newpaper company in Lancaster. During that time, he met the love of his life, Marcy. They got married and had a wonderful little girl named Lillian. During layoffs at the newspaper, Richard felt the call to the ministry. He attended Methodist Theological Seminary. He also had the opportunity to spend a month studying in India where Thomas, the disciple, fled after Jesus appeared in the upper room. Richard has also traveled to Vietnam three times for a motorcycle ministry in that country. Richard loves to ride motorcycles, golfing and fishing, and he also collects comic books. Basically, he just loves being with his family and being out in God's creation.
Kim became the office manager in October, 2019. She is from the Lima area and has been married to Bob for 36 years. They have 4 children, Ryan (Chelsea), Matthew (Isabella), Josh (Kaelin), and Rebekah (Trey). She enjoys the many responsibilites of working here in the office at Cridersville UMC and getting to know the wonderful people who attend the church. Her hobbies include playing the piano, reading, taking walks in the park, and boating in Tennesee.
"One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalm 40:3-5. 'And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.' That is my prayer, that in and through everything, I would continually praise my Savior and that others would see and come to know Jesus." |

I am a beloved child of God who enjoys playing the piano and helping people connect with God through music. My husband Howard and I enjoy traveling, especially to discover lighthouses. My favorite Scripture: "And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20b) How wonderful to know that God is with us always!

My name is Crystal Drexler. I have been attending Cridersville UMC for about 12 years. I recently have taken on a new role within the church as the Children's Ministry Director. My journey working with children in the ministry started over 20 years ago when I was given the opportunity to teach Sunday School in the church where I grew up. I started with ages 10-12 then moved on to teach preschool-age children. Along with teaching Sunday school, I was also an adult youth group volunteer where I was able to spend lots of time working with the teens. I have always felt a calling to work with children which is why I stay active volunteering at the elementary school and in the PTO. I am also a substitute teacher and mom of 3 children of my own: Chloe, Navy and Nixon. My husband, Brock, our children, and I reside in Wapakoneta where we keep busy with sports, coaching, family outings and outdoor activities. Through Bible teachings, worship, creativity, and fun in this ministry, my prayer is that I can make a long-term impact in the lives of every child who walks through the door so they can become leaders of the next generation.
Jeff and Melanie Reichelderfer have been the Youth Leaders here at Cridersville UMC over 12 years. They know that being here and having the opportunity to work with teens has all been part of God’s awesome plan!!! Jeff and Mel have been married almost 16 years and have two sons (Rylan is 10 and Noah is 4). During their free time they love to be outdoors with the boys…camping, bike rides and going to Red’s Games! Jeff is also a full time Firefighter and Paramedic with American Township Fire Department.
Bringing Jesus to Teens…and helping them to grow in understanding of who God is and taking that into the world…is what they base this ministry on!
