DEEPWATER DISTRESS

Since April 20, the disaster at BPs Deepwater Horizons has been pouring oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Daily we see pictures and learn new facts about the far-reaching impact of this spill at multiple levels to wildlife, to the fishing industry, to coastal tourism. The best minds and technicians have come together to coordinate air patrols, boom technology, and various type of skimmers. Despite the coordinated efforts of thousands of government employees, businesses, environmentalists, and volunteer workers, the spill continues to pollute coastal beaches and marshes.

As sickening a scene as this is for us to witness, it cannot compare to the devastation caused by the first deepwater disaster - when Man and Woman chose to ignore Gods warning and doubt His intentions. The resulting sin, shame, selfishness and death polluted not only their lives and Edens garden, but it has continued to seep around the globe and infect the souls of all humanity with despair.

On this 4th of July weekend, let us remember that God saw our deepwater distress and He sent a rescue army of one His Son, Jesus to provide the only means to be washed clean of sins oily slim. Let us each LIVE & TELL of story of Gods redemptive love.

Supt. Darrel Riley

YOUR STATEMENT OF INTENT is due by JULY 22nd:

Every individual believer can LIVE THE STORY (your non-verbal witness of attitudes and actions) and TELL THE STORY (your verbal testimony for Christ), spontaneously as you go about your daily routine.

Additionally, as congregations we can also LIVE & TELL Gods story, by planning creative ways to reach others in our neighborhoods and community, by offering resources and friendship through felt - need small groups.

By July 22, each local church should register their congregations two sentence Statement of Intent at www.livethestorytellthestory.com (click on right column box). Bishop Roller will check the site for every church participation.

ENGLISH Statement of Intent

The two-sentence Statement of Intention is a simple explanation of your plan. It shows that you are talking together and have developed a rudimentary plan. The two-sentence Statement of Intention answers the question: How do you intend to create reproducible groups led by lay believers that non-believers attend? Some examples:

-We, the New Adrenaline FMC of Endocrine, Maine will start 6 new groups by 10/10/10. We know that the service component of 1 will be to offer ESL to immigrants, the other 5 will be discovered before Sept 22.

-We, the Light-N-Up FMC of Yoke, PA will start 15 new groups by 10/10/10. Each one will have a different focus determined by the starters.

- We the OlYeller FMC of Knine, FL will start 2 new groups by 10/10/10. One will serve young mothers, the other, widows.

-We the His Feet FMC of Podiatry, NY will adapt our existing Life groups to make them smaller (so more people can lead them). Well also ensure that they re-design to minister to non-believers.

A recent message from Jack:

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the way you have supported me during this most difficult time in my life. God has truly provided all my needs. My sorrow over the loss of my dear wife, Jeanne, has been the hardest part of the journey, but even in my grief God has comforted me and will continue to help me day by day. Psalm 116:8 (KJV) states: For Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears and my feet from falling. My survival of the collapse of the FOHO building was a miracle. Jack is planning a visit to Haiti in September.
