AFTER OVERFLOW: THE CREATING JOURNEY BEGINS

How do you describe the EAST Overflow Conference?

Here are a few comments shared with us that will give you a glimpse of the experience. . .

This was the best FM gathering I have ever attended.

There were more people here than at the 2003 or 2007 General Conferences!

Morning prayer times were like prayer meetings of long ago real prayer, real power.

I was reminded of how diverse our FM family is economically, culturally and racially it was a preview of heaven.

We gave $27,000 in special offerings for Haiti tents & reforestation?! Wow people came ready to give and sacrifice! FMs are truly a generous people.

The Main Sessions were magnificent the atmosphere, the music, the video stories, the speakers I am changed for having been here.

I wish I didnt have to work, I want to stay and worship with you, [hotel housekeeper]

I led my waitress to the Lord at supper time heres her contact information can one of your local FM churches follow up with her?

So what happens now?

Do you just file away the memories and handouts from Overflow and wait for the next big event to attend? NO WAY! As Bishop David Roller challenged us Saturday morning, the CREATING JOURNEY now begins. In the next 15 months between Overflow (April 2010) and General Conference (July 2011), each individual and each local church is to be involved in a CREATIVE JOURNEY creating new openings to build bridges of friendship and service and verbal witness to those who are not yet followers of Jesus. This means we are all to be making progress in:

LIVING THE STORY: Living as committed followers of Jesus, whose lives radiate the purity and passion of Jesus with a holiness that others cant help but notice and therefore they are attracted to us

TELLING THE STORY: Gaining confidence in our ability to explain GODS Story of salvation to those with no Bible background, and to also share OUR Story of how / why we are a Christ-follower.

Are there any resources to help me and our church do this?

WEBSITE: Go to www.LivetheStoryTelltheStory.com to order resources, download helps, listen to a message from Bishop Roller, find social networking ministry ideas, etc.

DVDs: Those who ordered a DVD of the Overflow Main Sessions will receive it soon; those desiring to order it are able to do so through the website above. Share the DVD as a 5-week Sunday School, evening adult, or small group study soon.

BOOKLET: Copies of Bishop Rollers The Company of the Creative will be available at SAC May Regional Training Events, and my next gathering with AL-GA and GCC.

As DISTRICTS, GET MOVING - start talking & sharing CREATIVE IDEAS together!

Supt. Darrel Riley

INWARDLY HEALTHY & OUTWARDLY FOCUSED:

SERVING ANOTHER FOUR YEARS TOGETHER

It is an honor for me to be elected as superintendent of the Southeast Region for another four years. I have learned much this past term, and trust that you have also. Carry with you some of the simple, but powerful, phrases we have unpacked together:

Inwardly Healthy & Outwardly Focused

Create New Openings

Filled and Spilled

Rip the Roof!

I ask your prayers for Peggy and me. There is never enough time, money or resources for the requests that I receive. And although we will share many, many high moments together in the next four years, there will undoubtedly be times when I will have to say difficult things to some congregations or individuals - that goes with the position. May we live in humility and unity, striving to be all, and to do all, that God has intended for us.

Both Jeanne and Elizabeth will go to Haiti together in preparation for organizing an ALL CONFERENCE VISA WORK TEAM to Haiti soon.

Updates Around the Conference:

The new campus of Columbus GA: Christ Community Church is a few months away from completion [July 19]. Currently the exterior is finished, the interior walls are being painted and the sanctuary chairs have been ordered. To celebrate God's faithfulness in this process and to seek His anointing on the ministry that will happen at the new site, the congregation will be making a couple of visits out to the construction site this month - one evening to pray over the different ministry areas, and another to write scriptures on the floors that will be covered with carpeting and tile in a month. They are calling this experience "How Firm a Foundation"

Fayetteville GA: Fayette Community Church is relocating across the street to a new facility in May
